Pita Bread


Ingredients

500gm Plain White Flour
250mL lukewarm water
2 tsp sugar
2 tsp Active Dried Yeast
1 tsp salt

Approx time - 1hr 5min

Method

1) In a bowl, dissolve sugar in the water then sprinkle yeast on top. Leave for about 4 minutes until a foam forms.

2) In a separate large bowl, mix flour and salt.

3) Stir the yeast mixture, then add to flour and mix. Knead on a lightly floured board for about 10 minutes or until you have a nice soft dough.

4) Divide the dough into small balls about 6cm wide. Place the balls on some baking paper and cover with a moistened tea-towel. Leave for 15 minutes to rise until double in size.

5) Dust the balls with flour on both sides and flatten with a rolling pin to form a circle about 2mm in thickness. Place the circles back onto baking paper and cover with a moistened tea-towel. Leave for about 30 minutes until about 1cm thick.

6) Place on a baking tray and bake in an oven preheated to 200°C for 5 minutes until golden and puffed up
